内容回忆：学生要写paper，还要和其他学生进行peer review，学生不太想criticize别的学生的论文老师说评论正是peer review的目的。并问学生有没有选好研究的人物。老师给他推荐了一个18-19世纪的女作家和建筑师。她写作和设计房子都力求简单，和她同时代的风格不同。

1)第一个理论：sun navigation 鸟儿根据太阳来辨认方向。

2)第二个理论：magnet 地球磁场

3)第三个理论：scent-map 气味地图鸟儿能识别目的地的气味，还有路上的地标的 气味，以此来辨别方向评价：前两个理论缺陷是不能说明鸟儿怎么知道具体的current position;第三个理论有实验和证据证明，但是科学家还有些doubt未解决。

话题分类：艺术(women portrait in profile)

内容回忆：在欧洲历史上有一段时期，女性的肖像画多于男性。而且只画女性的侧面像profile，可能受到罗马钱币的影响。女性的侧面肖像画突出女性身上的珠宝，头发的样式，还有华美的衣服有几个作用：显示family 财富和 social status。但是这些 画从不突出被画女性的 personality。因为这些画是为了帮女性相亲用，画中的女性看起来非常优雅refinement。

Lecture 3

话题分类：地质学(mineral species)

内容回忆：mineral 因为cores不同，而有不同的类别。就像狗有breed一样。mineral species 的 形成经历了billions of years。

1)universe形成的时候。有些 supernova 超新星死了之后，冷却形成几种 mineral。

2)algae海藻出现之后，空气中氧气增多。很多现存的mineral氧化形成新的 mineral。这种方法形成的最多。

Lecture 4

话题分类：经济学(美国快餐业雏形)

内容回忆：美国最早的快餐业的雏形是一种自动售货的机器。因为新颖，许多美国人选择去那里就餐。这种机器的好处：

1)省时。人们可以在去 theater 的路上买来吃。

2)fresh food。管理机器的公司有严格的 rules，会保证产品质量。比如 overnight food 绝不售卖，另外咖啡如果超过 20min 没人买就会处理掉。当然这也是卖点。(考点)

3)glass。因为售卖机是玻璃柜子，人们可以清楚看到买的 item。转折点：Depression 美国经济萧条人们开始在郊区生活 不去城里使用自动售货机于是快餐业又兴起了 fast food chain，一种新模式。不过作者和许多人对于以前那种不同阶级地位的人坐在拥挤的售卖机前一起共餐的画面还是很怀念的(考点)。

权威点评：本次考试的独立任务题目难度中等偏上，第一题的出题方式较为特殊，没有考到我们熟悉的人物 地点事物事件类熟悉的话题，有一定的难度。第二题相对而言较为简单，比较常规的答法都可以解决。综合题目中较难的题目是第四题，生命科学与实验相结合是个难点，要抓住理解对比的变化。

解题思路：该题让我们描述家族企业的利弊，我们可以先描述家族企业的优势在于保留传统文化，比如世界上著名的 lvmh 公司它的历史传统很深厚，赋予产品的附加值也就更高，人们因为他们的家族历史文化着迷于他们的产品。 但是家族企业的劣势是管理方式不够先进，很容易被个别家族中的强权人士主观控制，缺乏客观的引导，容易管理混乱。

参考范文：Well, as far as I am concerned, the advantage of family business is it helps to maintain traditions well. For example, the well-known family business lvmh co. has such a long family tradition that it bestows unique great historic value to their company products. It is highly likely that family business would be under the personal influence of strong powerful figure in the family, so the management style is possibly quite subjective, easily leads into chaos.

To conclude, that’s why I approve of the statement选择同意这个论述认为儿童参与运动项目可以社交发展得更好。首先，参与运动项目可以认识更多的社交能力好的朋友。运动项目通常是由许多热爱参与体育运动的小朋友们一起完成，因此通常都是性格比较热情外向的小朋友们，因此交到能帮助孩子们提升社交能力的小朋友的可能性更大。另外一方面，参与运动本身也很锻 炼人们的社交能力。比如打篮球时如何与队友就技术意见不一致时如何沟通，解决这些实际的争端能更好的发展儿童的社交能力。

参考范文：Personally speaking, I strongly agree with the statement for the following two reasons. For one thing, children could meet many new friends with good social skills while taking part in sports. Usually children likes to participate in sports are the ones who are passionate, outgoing, and with excellent social skills, as a result, it is highly likely that children will meet and make friends with the ones who can help them improve social skills. 缺点：不是直达需要转机可能会赶不上下一班并错过他教授的presentation

Firstly, since the flight needs transfer and there is possibility that he might not get on the next flight thus missing the presentations from the researchers, it is better to take the bus. Also, even if the journey is tired and long, he could drink some coffee when he arrives and take a short break to refresh himself.
