1. How often do you buy shoes? 你多久买一次鞋?

I buy shoes once a month. Because I like collecting shoes, especially sneakers. Sneakers can help me play basketball better and protect my ankle. Besides, sneakers look really cool, and my favorite basketball star also like to collect sneakers.

2. Have you bought shoes online? 你在网上买过鞋吗？

Yes. Because many sneakers are limited edition, they need to line up on the Internet. I don't like buying shoes online, I can't try them on and I don't know if they are suitable for me. Due to many of the limited edition sneakers were co-operated with basketball stars, I had to buy them online.

3. What kind of shoes do you like? 你喜欢什么样的鞋?

I like sneakers. Because I like playing basketball, and sneakers can help to score better. At the same time, sneakers have air cushions, walking comfortably and protecting my ankles. The most important reason is that the style of the sneakers is pretty, and there are many features that I like on the sneakers. And many sneakers are cooperated with my favorite basketball stars, so I like sneakers very much.

I’m really into watching films because some films are very entertaining and provoking. I sometimes go to the cinema with my friends and family to enjoy our leisure time on the weekends.

2. Do you like to go to the movies alone or with someone else?

For most part, I like watching films alone at my home under by blanket. But, when there are lots of my friends going out, I do company them. However, this does not happen very often. So, one can say, if the movie is really nice and we all friends want to have some fun together, we go to movies.

I go to the cinema to watch movies from time to time. Normally if I’m not busy with my work, I’ll check out the movies to see whether there are any movies that attract me; but if I have lots of things on my hands, I’ll probably focus on my work.

4. What kind of movie do you like? 你喜欢什么样的电影?

I love romantic movies the most. For me, the emotion love is the most important emotion of all and I love it when two people fall in love with each other. Some of my favorite romantic movies have been, what happens in Las Vegas, Notebook, crazy stupid love. But, apart from romantic movies, I also like watching comedy movies and sometimes the motivational movies, the ones based on true life incidents.

5. Did you see a movie when you were a child? 你小时候看过电影吗?

Yes. The first time I watched an entire movie was Stuart Little when I was ten. Our school took the students who had subscribed to the newspaper to a movie hall. For us, most of the class had subscribed. So, the entire class of VIB, that was my section, went to watch the movie in a cinema hall. It was an amazing experience, not only because it was the first time I was watching a movie but because with people I enjoy my school days.

6. Is there any difference between what you watch now and what you saw when you were a kid? 你现在看到的和你小时候看到的有什么不同吗?

The first film that I watched was the Lion King many years ago in the cinema with my parents. What I can remember now is the terrific animation and the amazing soundtrack. I particularly liked the song Can You Feel the Love Tonight that I knew it was produced by Elton John. But I don’t realize what the movie wants to tell us until now. It is about living up to our responsibilities, no matter how hard it is.

I love it when the weather is gloomy, or when it’s windy and the cold wind hits my face. I like it when it’s so windy that you could hear whistles. But unfortunately, I live in California so I only enjoy the weather for a short period of time, most of the time, it’s just a lot of humidity and hot weather.

2. Do you like wet weather or dry one? 你喜欢潮湿的天气还是干燥的天气?

Definitely dry weather. If the weather is dry, you won’t feel too uncomfortable even if it’s hot or cold. I like the dry sunny days.

3. What is the typical weather in your hometown? 你家乡的天气怎么样?

The weather is quite extreme here, actually. I mean it's humid and scorching in summer and freezing cold in winter. Although spring and autumn are rather mild and delightful, they are normally too short even to notice.

4. What do people do differently in different seasons? 人们在不同的季节做什么不同的事情?

Weather affects people's lives to a large extent. Apparently, outdoor activities in winter are limited. It seems winter only good for watching the 1st snow fall but you have to shovel snow after then. However, there is so much more to do during the summer like playing games outside, going to the beach and the pool, getting tan or eating ice cream on a warm summer night.

I think I am a great reader, and there are so many books in which I am deeply engrossed.

The book I recently read is a novel called The Tales of Two Cities by Charles Dickens, one of the greatest novelists of the 19th century. I got this book as a birthday gift from my sister several weeks ago. My sister said that it was one of the classic novels in the world and she believed that I would like this novel. So I started to read this novel on the day I received it.

My sister was right, I was soon attracted by this book and read it again and again. I liked this classic novel for a number of reasons. First, I was quite impressed by the vivid descriptions of the characters and their interactions. I mean that Charles Dickens was really a master of the English language; you can form a mental picture of what is going on in the novel and you will be touched by the personalities of these characters. Second, the plot is full of twists and turns, always making me eager to find out what will happen next.

And finally, I also learn more about the French Revolution. Dickens described the story under the background of French Revolution, which makes the book more than a novel but also the reflection of the French Revolution.

这个话题成为近两年最高频的话题之一确实让很多人大感惊讶。作为老话题，沉寂了一段时间之后在最近两年登上最高频话题榜证明了出题者广开思路、多面考察学生在除了工作学习和个人基本状况之外的口语对话能力的意图。应该说，有相当大一部分考生从来没有想过关于睡觉的话题，更不用说用英文表达相关内容。所以，雅思口语的考察范围十分宽泛，千万不能侥幸只准备几个经典老题，否则吃亏的还是自己。

Q1: How many hours do you sleep every day? 你每天睡几个小时?

A: Mostly, I sleep 8 hours on average every day. But my sleeping time often varies if I’m in revision week or holidays. I mean, if I have much work to do, I could stay rather late at night and probably sleep for only 4 hours. And on public holidays I could sleep up to 12 hours if I don't have schedule.

Q2: Do you think it is necessary to take a nap at noon? 你认为有必要在中午小睡一会儿吗?

A: Yes, absolutely. I think taking a nap allows us to refresh and recharge ourselves so we can stay focused on what we are going to do, particular during workdays. Besides, it benefits our health because our bodies can have a little break and our mind can just be relaxed.

Q3: Do old people sleep a lot? Why? 老年人睡得多吗?为什么?

A: I don't think they actually sleep a lot. Like my grandparents, they sleep at 11 at night and get up at 5 or 6 in the morning. I guess they can’t sleep a lot because they don't consume as much energy as working people or kids. And it may also because their organs work slower and can’t afford to give the elder people a long sleep.

Some years ago I taught my younger brother to tie shoelaces, but I still vividly remember it like it was yesterday because it was one of the most painstaking tasks in my life.

At first, I thought it would be a piece of cake. You see, it takes on more than seconds to do it. You do it automatically without thinking about it. I mean it's as natural as breathing. So I thought I would show it once or perhaps twice and it would be done, but no such luck.

And actually, that was my biggest mistakes. Firstly, I tried to teach him ghis task when were rushing out the door! Of course, my brother couldn'd repeat after me. In the end, I felt nothing but frustration. And he couldn't understand why I was so angry.

My mom told me that this process could take up to a month of consistency and dedication from understood that, first of all. I myself had to learn how to teach somebody. So, I watched a number of video tutorials which showed different ways to teach a child to tie shoelaces. Who'd have thought that this seemingly simple action consists of so many stages. After that we started practicing 5 minutes every day and I broke down this complete task into smaller steps not to overwhelm the child. At first, we practiced with his shoes off. I used laces of two different colours to help him differentiate on lace form the other. We started from learning to make starting knot. When he finally succeeded, we move to a more complicated task. I started teaching him to make both ends into 'loops' that look like bunny ears, then cross the two loops over each other, wrap the right loop around the left one, grab hold of both loops and pull the knot tight. everyday we took one small step forward. Everything was ok when we did it together, but when I asked him to do it himself, it was terrible. I was as if he had never practiced anything before. Several times I was on the verge of losing my temper. But I didn't give up. It was a challenge for me. I wanted to see what I was capable of as a teacher. When it all was over and he managed to tie his first shoelaces singlehandedly, I had a sense of satisfaction and relief.
